The farmlands are near a Mainsha village

A cyclone severely affected this region, which caused the lake’s water to overflow into some of the surrounding fields. The floodwaters severely damaged the soil and made it unsuitable for farming practices. As a result, the affected fields were repurposed for aquaculture, transforming the land use in that area. This shift from agriculture to aquaculture reflects into a environmental changes brought about by the cyclone.
