Farming

The farmlands are near a Mainsha village

And are surrounded by a variety of landscapes and agricultural activities, including coastal areas, aquaculture, barren lands, and farms growing cashews (kaju) and rice. The drawing illustrates how these different elements highlight their spatial connections. A cyclone severely affected this region, which caused the lake’s water to overflow into some of the surrounding fields. The floodwaters severely damaged the soil and made it unsuitable for farming practices. As a result, the affected fields were repurposed for aquaculture, transforming the land use in that area. This shift from agriculture to aquaculture reflects into a  environmental changes brought about by the cyclone.

The drawing seems to highlight the complex interplay between different land uses and the impacts of a natural disaster like a cyclone on an ecosystem. This shift underscores how natural disasters like cyclones can not only cause immediate damage but also lead to longer-term changes in land use and local ecosystems, as communities adapt to new environmental realities. The illustration would likely emphasize the contrast between the prior agricultural landscape and the newly established aquaculture system.
