Sarda wakes up from her afternoon nap and takes a seat in the courtyard, where other women soon join her. They sit together, talking and sharing stories.
Savita carries out her household chores in the front yard, while Shree eats his evening meal in the veranda and then runs off to the beach to play.
For Govind, evenings belong to the shore. He sits by the water with other men, drinking tadi and talking, as the beach becomes a leisure space for men.
