Balotiya House

by Gargi Somani

Whille designing, each member’s daily activities and their movements were observed carefully to see what spaces do they occupy and at what time do all members get together. Keeping in mind their needs, the proposed design intends to give storage solutions, increase space for sleeping and improve light and ventilation by introducing a light shaft through staircases.

Newer materials are used to improve living conditions inside the house. Materials are more durable, sturdy and will last better than previously used materials. Kota tiles are used for flooring and bison boards for the facade which is light-weight, fire resitant and soundproof. Modulating and splitting the roof gives it the opportunity for light to come in and to have more height to a room.
