Mumbai Neighbourhoods
Volume II

This Volume of Mumbai Neighbourhood documents ten sites in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai, which have also been sites of resettlement and rehabilitation. These sites have over the years consolidated and people’s efforts have been instrumental in making these houses, provided as infrastructures, often without basic means of livelihoods and social amenities, into homes. The study documents these efforts and through it asks the ontological question - What is a Home? This study along with an accompanying art installation also by the same name was exhibited at the Kochi Art Biennale in the Student Biennale section in 2016.
